About Paul Tsang

Paul was born and raised in Hong Kong, China, and has lived in Boston for over 38 years. He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical engineering with the highest distinction and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering. After his graduation, he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as a mechanical engineer, while also serving as an adjunct professor at his alma mater. Since 1988, he has been teaching thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. Over the years, Paul has worked for various companies, including Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. (now known as AECOM), and Parsons Engineering. He has accumulated over 30-years of experience in building design and construction. In his past roles as a project manager and a lead project engineer, he has developed new business and engaged in marketing.

Paul is currently the Director of Engineering of a Fortune 500 Company. He manages a group of engineers and designers, reviews, and oversees the quality and production of engineering designs for each project. Paul is a Professional Engineer (PE) with licenses in many states. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEEP AP), a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) and a certified Green Building Engineer (GBE). Paul actively participates in the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE) and International Institute of Sustainable Design (I2SL).

As an educator, an engineer, and a parent, Paul takes the responsibility of educating the next generation of engineering professionals very seriously. He believes that it is important for students to be able to relate the theories and the fundamentals they learn in the classroom with practical problems they are likely to encounter in the real world. With that in mind, Paul frequently organizes tours for his students to local power and utility plants in the Boston area so that students can experience real-life problems and solutions. It is his goal to have students come away from his classes with a deep interest and a desire to continue to explore the engineering field. Paul is committed to educating and nurturing the next generation. He was actively involved with his children's school activities and served as a parent judge at the Lexington Debate Tournaments and the Lexington Science Fairs. In addition to finding work with young children rewarding, Paul believes that education is the foundation of society.
